Dr. Paul Harrison is the Scar Free Foundation Associate Professor within the Institute of Inflammation and Ageing at the University of Birmingham. Paul has over 40 years of research experience and was previously based at Oxford University Hospitals NHS foundation trust, University College London, University of Oklahoma and Kings College London. He is a Past-President of the British Society of Haemostasis and Thrombosis (BSHT), a Past-chairman of the International Society of Thrombosis and Haemostasis (ISTH) Platelet Physiology Scientific and standardization committee and Past co-editor in chief of the International Journal “Platelets”. He is a current board member of the ICSH. He has published over 200 papers and book chapters/reviews with an h-index of 73. In 2010, Paul was featured as one of the top 100 healthcare scientists in the UK by the Department of Health. Paul is currently researching into the influence of traumatic injury and burns on the systemic inflammatory response with a particular focus on immune and haematological parameters. His main research interests are platelet biology, PRP therapy and regenerative medicine, platelet function testing, neutrophil extracellular traps (NETs) and extracellular vesicles.
